＜プログラムノート＞

  Humans possess only about 400 types of odorant receptors in the nose, yet it is said that we can distinguish over 100,000 different odors through the countless combinations of these receptors. When this information is transmitted to the brain, the perception of “smell” is formed for the first time.

 

  In this piece, organ is featured as Odorant Receptors and chains of passages constructed from limited scales and their arpeggios are compared to the “information of smell”. 

Through the organ at Sankt Peter Church—with its wide range of timbres and unique mechanical functions—these chains are multiplied, filtered, diffused, and scattered throughout the space like scents dispersing in the air.
